2030 Sustainability Goals

We're doing our part to limit climate change and mitigate its catastrophic effects.

We aim to ensure a healthy planet that supports all our stakeholders – including employees, customers, shareholders, suppliers and our communities.

Sustainability is part of the fabric of our company, and we're leveraging our leadership in providing safe, reliable and efficient solutions to our customers to accelerate the global energy transition.

Our long-term sustainability strategy focuses on ambitious climate action, resource optimization and innovative customer solutions.

  • We will operate, as always, with integrity, adhering to ethical standards that have sered us well since our founding over 100 years ago.

Doing business right and transparency

  • Achieve best-in-class safety performance by improving our industry-leading safety metrics by more than 50%
  • Ensure no human rights violations from our key suppliers
  • Report our ESG (environment, social and governance) material issues using Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) and Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) requirements
  • Disclose our U.S. minority and gender pay equity assurance results

Operational footprint

  • Reduce carbon emissions by 50% (target approved by Science Based Targets Initiative)
  • Achieve carbon neutral operations
  • Certify 100% of our manufacturing sites as zero waste-to-landfill
  • Certify 10% of our manufacturing sites as zero water discharge

Customer solutions

  • Reduce Scope 3 emissions throughout our value chain by 15% (target approved by Science Based Targets Initiative)
  • We plan to invest more than $3 billion in sustainability research and development over the next 10 years

 

Employee development and engagement

  • Maintain employee engagement scores of 80% or higher
  • Provide 12 hours of training and development per employee each year
  • Clock 250,000 hours of employee volunteer time each year
