Circuit breakers

xPole PFIM Type AC and A residual current circuit breaker

Eaton offers a complete range of compact residual current devices for fault current/residual current and additional protection in residential and small commercial applications. This series covers the full spectrum of compact protection devices for various applications.

Type AC RCDs are suitable for detecting sinusoidal AC fault currents whereas Type A RCDs detect sinusoidal AC fault currents and pulsating DC residual currents up to 6 mA. They can also handle the residual current waveforms often generated in the power supply units of single-phase loads with electronic components.

Compliant to
IEC/EN 61008
Rated short circuit strength
10 kA
Available types
AC, A, U and R

Core features

  • Compatible with the other devices from the P series, which can be connected by means of a standard busbar
  • Twin-purpose terminal (lift/open-mouthed) at top and bottom
  • Can be positioned at the top or bottom of the busbar, the installation position does not affect the functioning
  • Free terminal space despite installed busbar
  • Z-A universal tripping signal switch and Z-HK auxiliary switch can be retrofitted
  • Contact position indicator red-green
  • Time-delayed types suitable for use with standard fluorescent lamps, with or without electronic ballast
  • Line voltage independent RCCB for fault protection, additional as well as fire protection

The PFIM xPole RCCB is available in following different types:
Magnet motor electricity
Type -A:
Protects against special forms of residual pulsating DC which have not been smoothed.

Type -R:
To avoid unwanted tripping due to X-ray devices.

Type -G:
High reliability against unwanted tripping. Compulsory for any circuit where personal injury or damage to property may occur in case of unwanted tripping.

Type -S:
Selective residual current device sensitive to AC, type -S.

Type -S/A:
Additionally protects against special forms of residual pulsating DC which have not been smoothed.

Heathcare - medical
Type -G/A:
Additionally protects against special forms of residual pulsating DC which have not been smoothed. Special types for X-ray application PFIM-...-R.
Type -U:
Suitable for speed-controlled drives with frequency converters in household, trade, and industry. Unwanted tripping is avoided thanks to a tripping characteristic designed particularly for frequency converters.

Reliable protection for machines

These products provide an optimal system and additional protection against residual earth leakage currents for a wide range of applications by offering different tripping characteristics to cater for various electrical systems and components that can generate. Available in a comprehensive range of nominal current values and with optional accessories.

Suitable RCD type

The tripping is line voltage-independent. Consequently, the RCD is suitable for “fault current/residual current protection” and “additional protection” within the the meaning of the applicable installation rules.
