Transform EV charging station infrastructure costs into new EV charging business models with Energy Storage.

Benefit from your EV charging infrastructure

For building owners or fleet managers, installing EV charging infrastructure can provide real benefits and boost business. It means rethinking how to transform a portion of parking real-estate into a sustainable charging hub. With the right thinking you can create EV charging business models with new revenue streams.

Optimize EV Charging station infrastructure costs

Providing EV charging infrastructure can benefit most public and private parking facilities as more and more car owners embrace the e-mobility transition. It will help drive customer loyalty, increase staff satisfaction, create new revenue streams and ensure compliance with new energy regulations. However this requires proper planning and careful design as most hosting facilities are unlikely to already have sufficient power capacity.
To avoid demand spikes caused by charging EVs during peak time, smart charging technologies can use price signals to incentivize drivers to top-up when tariffs are cheapest. The combined use of onsite renewable generation and energy storage systems maximize self-consumption and peak shaving as a way to support a smooth and economic integration of EV charging. This stacks up the benefits of reduced capital investment and operational costs with new revenue opportunities and increased customer loyalty.

Campus stores local renewables for EV charging

In its transformation into a zero carbon campus, the Catholic University of Lille in France is using stored solar energy for EV Charging.

Housing association integrates EV chargers using energy storage systems

INVADE is one of Europe's biggest ever science projects in the field of smart grid and energy storage and drives the development of new smart solutions and business models within the power and energy market. As part of the INVADE project the Norwegian housing association Solvang smoothly integrates EV chargers in underground parking while optimizing the solar energy produced and stored locally. Along with NatWest and Lombard, and in partnership with the Renewable Energy Association, Eaton have commissioned an Aurora Energy Research report that highlights the scale of commercial opportunities for electric vehicle (EV) charging at commercial and industrial sites.

The key finding is that the installation of EV charging infrastructure at commercial and industrial sites across the UK and Germany is set to unlock significant commercial opportunities, which would be bolstered with the addition of solar photovoltaic, ‘Vehicle-to-Grid’ (V2G) and energy storage installations.

Do you have plans to host an EV charging hub? Download the research report to learn about the full implications of doing so.

xStorage Compact, our all-in-one single rack energy storage system

The Eaton xStorage Compact energy storage system enables buildings owners and facility managers to solve power management challenges for their small and medium commercial and industrial sites. Eaton xStorage Compact helps them increase local renewable energy consumption and integrate electric vehicles charging infrastructure on site. Depending on the existing site power distribution infrastructure an energy storage system may indeed bring benefit for an installation that includes three EV chargers and more. Eaton xStorage Compact is available in a single rack version which is easy to install, ready-to-use with symmetric charge and discharge and is backup ready. The system also includes a control platform with user interface and simple expansion options. This compact system is modular, scalable and well suited for a wide range of energy storage applications
