A real alternative to micro PLCs: The next generation of control relays

Historically, many low to medium complexity applications had to be operated using a micro PLC or a standard PLC because traditional control relays or logical controler did not offer the required flexibility and resources. Development times and the cost per machine can now be significantly reduced thanks to the next generation of smart control relays with Ethernet communications and programming flexibility using structured text.

Using the example of Eaton's easyE4 control relay, he demonstrates how, in many cases, high-performance control relays can become an alternative to a small PLC thanks to the use of multiple programming languages, modular software concepts in combination with flexible hardware with multiple I/O options.
