Josh:
...Sorry! Just super pumped for this round. 

Host Adam:
We all are Josh. We all are. The question is: How are PLCs used in correlation with safety applications?

Josh:
Safety rated PLCs on the market are used to monitor safety conditions in an application. However, in many circumstances a PLC can control the process power and logic, and individual safety relays can monitor and control the motion power.

Host Adam:
That’s correct but you didn’t buzz in, Josh.

Josh:
I did before though.

Host Adam:
Doesn’t quite work that way. Asma or Travis, anything to add for a point?

Travis:
Yeah! So, the advantage of this type of combined system that Josh described is cost savings compared to using an expensive safety PLC.

Asma:
Oh! Also, for simple applications like conveyors this is usually the better option.   

Host Adam:
There are no more points to award but thanks for adding that, Asma.

Asma:
I just love talking PLCs!
