Ampgard AR arc-resistant medium-voltage motor control is certified to IEEE Std. C37.20.7-2017 and is designed to safely contain and redirect exhaust gases away from the operator in the event of an arc flash incident. Ampgard AR is rated arc-resistant Type 2B enhancing safety from the front, sides and rear of the enclosure, even with the low-voltage control doors open. The robust construction of the Ampgard AR is designed to resist the forces of an arc fault up to 50 kA for a full 0.5 seconds.

Ampgard AR is designed with cutting edge features to protect personnel in the event of an arc fault. The isolation switch features ionized gas barriers which significantly reduce the risk of an arc fault by preventing the propagation of ionized gas barriers within the isolation switch. The main fuse compartment is designed to direct exhaust gases away from personnel by placing an additional service barrier between the arc fault and personnel.
