Which type of UPS should you use and why?

Given the enormous loads associated with data centres and the need for uninterrupted, high-quality power, you will need a powerful three-phase UPS to protect your back-end equipment. To meet the relevant efficiency and redundancy requirements, we recommend a high-performance UPS, such as the Eaton 93PM or the Power Xpert 9395P, designed with data centres in mind.

Lifts are perhaps one of the most obvious use cases for a UPS, irrespective of their location. In the event of a power cut, the connected UPS system will prevent people from getting stuck (or worse). Since the associated loads may be quite large, we recommend a more powerful UPS, such as the Eaton 9SX or 9PX with advanced protection for this purpose.

While security systems are frequently battery-powered, you can connect them to a UPS for an additional layer of protection. With their extended battery runtime, either the Eaton 5PX Gen 2 or the more powerful Eaton 9PX are the ideal choice for backing up connected equipment such as power over Ethernet (PoE) switches or systems used for storing security camera footage.
